I accidentally spilled some acetone on my laptop and it left a slightly white residue and I’ve tried almost everything and all of them didn’t work. Not quite sure if it melted.
When it comes to plastic staining, it’s ruined forever - you will need to replace the chassis parts which were damaged to fix it. That said, depending on the extent of the damage you may be able to live with it depending on where, due to Dell’s tendency to plastic weld the keyboard in, or making it a real (and expen$ive) pain to swap. The only logic I can pick up is it seems to be based on the series and if its business class or consumer grade, and even then Dell plastic welds it into the Lat 3000 (these are Inspirons with a different name, like Vostro). 5000/7000/9000 are usually screwed in, but the motherboard needs to come out. The main customer for the 3000 series is school districts who want a disposable student laptop. However, Chromebooks serve the same purpose.
