my Olympia Infoglobe receives power but does not display time, date, and incoming telephone calls…it only displays occasionally
Solution found elsewhere suggested removing the batteries and unplugging the A/C adapter for 10 minutes. (I waited 30). Reinstall batteries and reattach A/C adapter. Buttons worked to get to the erase memory option, which I did. Infoglobe is now functioning properly. This is also the instructions for clearing the “eeprom error” readout that many infoglobes exhibit after a power surge.

I picked up one today from the “free” table at a local thrift and it was partially working - but very erratically. The select button did not work reliably and I could not get it to cycle through the functions. I suspected the tact switch underneath it had gone bad, so I disassembled the device (use a thin plastic card and slip it between the globe and the base to remove the globe… look closely and you can see where the globe has tabs that lock into the base… push the plastic card into the area of the tab while pulling apart the globe from the base. Once you get a few of the tabs loose, it should separate. Please note - there are 2 screws hidden under 2 of the rubber feet on the bottom of the base). Using a meter, I tested all the tact switches and they were all working - but the solder to the pins looked a bit oxidized so I used a small soldering iron and solder to re-flow all the switch solder joints. The circuit board had a bit of solder splash on it from poor factory assembly and I cleaned that off. Then, I cleaned the entire top of the circuit board with electronics cleaner and a soft brush. There was a some grime and debris there which I think came from the constantly-spinning motor. This was even on the contact areas to one of the chips and may have been producing a partial short. I then removed the spinning arm and cleaned 2 contact points were it gets supply from the circuit and I applied a small amount of De-ox-it to the contacts to the motor shaft. After some cleaning and reassembly, it now works perfectly. Hope this helps….. Good Luck!
