my friend just gave me his old pcs hard drive so how do i format it mac?
Just connect the drive to the Mac via an enclosure, go to Disk Utilities and first erase the disk. I would use the write “zero” to this drive erase option being that this re-allocates bad blocks on the drive. Then Partition it to one partition and under the partition options choose GUID partition table. Under the “Partition Information” choose a name for the drive and format it as Mac OS Extended “Journaled” and you should be good to go.
