Chosen Solution

I was just gifted an Epson Stylus NX415 hoping to use it at least as a scanner but when I power it on I get this error on the LCD display: Error: A printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer, then press On button to turn on. See your documentation. I’ve checked the user guide and can’t even find this status message listed in the documentation. When I try to power cycle the printer I get the same error. I’ve tried booting it with and without paper loaded. When I have the OSX System Preferences panel open it lists the printer as on but idle:

And within the printer utility I get “General error,” which is likely one of the least helpful error ever. Ha!

Is it a firmware issue? If so, does anyone know how to reset the printer to factory settings? Cheers!

If you already have turn off and turn on the printer and error doesn’t clear up, try turning it off and check for any obstructions that may be blocking the inks from moving then turn it on. If the issue persists, your printer already has a hardware issue particularly the printer part of your product. I suggest that you contact Epson for a replacement printer if it is within the 1-year warranty period from the date of purchase. It may happen after a load of ink clogs your paper sensor.
