How come my text messaging won’t work? I did a hard reset on my phone and now my text messaging won’t work it has always worked before never have had a problem with it. It’s also not letting me text out on hangouts or messenger which I also tried in place of my text messaging. I can send pictures out but not text messages. And yes I can receive text messages I just can’t send them out
Hi, You need to ensure that the SMS Service Centre setting is set for the service provider that you are using. Each service provider has a different setting (usually a phone numbber or a code). Go to your service provider’s website and search for ‘SMS Service Centre setting’. Here is a link that shows how to get to the setting. Even though it is for a Pixi it should still be relevant to your phone. If your carrier is not listed, just click on I can’t find my operator to carry on with the page. Hopefully it will still help you. https://www.helpforsmartphone.com/public… To get MMS (texts with pictures or videos) to work (as it is different to SMS) ensure that Data Connected is on. Again not sure but it should be somewhere in Home > Settings > Wireless & Networks > more > Mobile Networks > Data Connection.
Hi @ Steve Cline, Can you receive calls OK? If so, try starting the phone in safe mode (should be the same method for your model if it is an Alcatel phone - you didn’t say the model number) and see if you can receive texts OK. If you can, then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one. You’ll need to uninstall each downloaded app, one by one, and test the phone in normal mode, between each uninstall, to see if the texts work OK. When it does then the last downloaded app uninstalled was the problem. Perhaps start with the ones that may have been installed or updated around the time that you noticed the problem happening. If it also fails to work in safe mode, I suggest that you contact your mobile phone service provider about the problem as it may be at their end and not with your phone.
I had the same problem, I was receiving texts but sent ones were stored in Outbox. It turned out I had deleted the last 2 digits of Service centre number by mistake
It was a long time but had accidentally deleted the last number by mistake too. I tried all the numbers 1-9 and then it worked
