I’ve had this console since 2011 but now it can only read games and not dvd’s like it use to…and no, it never played Blu-ray’s at all. Unfortunately, the warranty on this one expired 4 years ago and it’s too expensive for me to take it to some repair shop. Is there a way to fix it myself or just admit defeat?
hermitburtonjewel that sounds like a laser lens error. Your optical drive has more than one laser to read the different disk CD/DVD/BR. It could just be a dirty lens or a failed laser. You could try one of the commercially available lens cleaners or consider disassembling your device and cleaning/replacing the laser assembly. Start with this guide. Defeat? Never!
