Do the R-Sims work? I bought a phone from someone 2nd hand and they wont respond to any of my messages. How the !&&* can I carrier unlock it?
You’ll need to talk with the carrier to see if the phone is still under contract if it is you’ll need to pay off the remainder to get it legally unlocked. If it’s not the carrier should be able to unlock it. Even still it maybe iCloud locked as well. You may want to stop the payment you gave the seller if you can. Often times this is a ploy to get money for a stolen phone.
I am assuming you mean carrier lock and not iCloud lock. That probably depends on the country you are in. Here in Canada, the original carrier has to unlock it and thankfully, they are no longer allowed to charge for this service. However, if the phone still has an outstanding balance (subsidy), then the carrier will not unlock it until it is fully paid. How this plays out where you are may be different. Usually your carrier should be able to determine whom it is locked to when you give them your IMEI.
Nothing you can do is “legal” google searches can provide some small answer but again not legal. if you bought it second hand from say offerup then you can contact them file a police report and they may be able to help you if you have the message proving it.
