Hi! The little piece of glass that covers my camera got broken. I saw a video of someone taking apart a Moto G and that glass is glued to the camera unit. It’s not part of the back plate so I’d have to replace the whole camera or to glue another piece of glass or transparent plexiglass or something. What do you guys think?
It depends on how fervent of a photographer you are. This device certainly was not touted for its amazing camera capabilities, so you could get away with using transparent plexiglass as a DIY method for repair. It may impact camera shots but it will most likely be negligible in the differences. If this were a phone with emphasis on the camera and I took a lot of photos, I would replace the whole camera unit, glass attached and all. If I took a photo only every so often, then I would go the DIY plexiglass route, mainly to try my hand at it and see what kind of results I’d get. Please let me know how it turns out for you, I am quite interested in the results.
I’d like to do that too, but I just don’t know where to get such little piece of (plexi)glass. I’ll try that and let you know how it went if I will be able to find someone who will cut that piece for me.
