I got this MacBook Pro used, and it had a replacement glass and bezel (totally unmentioned in the ad) and the glass fell off within a day or two. I kept sticking it back on and eventually broke it. I got a replacement glass with tape on it, and that fell off within a day or two. I got a replacement from the vendor which was even worse… tape was obviously old and the backing was already peeling off in places. It falls off every time I open the lid. Has anyone found an adhesive that works?

Here’s a good reference on how the glass is attached: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009 Front Display Glass Replacement. Basically, the adhesive is heat activated, while it does have a little tack it’s only after its heated does it really grab. I’ve used a glue gun to back fill the adhesive when the original adhesive is worn out. Whats important even using a glue gun is the glass and frame need to be warm so you have time enough to press the glass on. If you don’t the bead of glue will prevent the glass to sit cleanly on the frame. 3M also makes a nice double sided tape that also works.

3m 300lse should do the job! ;-) A silicone based glue can also be recommended (it is easy to rub away excess glue after hardening)
