Chosen Solution
Trying to eject a thumb drive but a a pop up says, cant eject drive because PREVIEW is open.
Command + Tab and select Preview. Command + Q is the universal keyboard shortcut for quit.
Command + Escape will bring up the Force Quit box. Do that then quits ant app in the list by clicking on it.
