I have a dead 80G PS3, i got a new slim PS3 since the old one is dead. now my question is … how can i back up or get the game data and other stuff from the old hard drive. since i never did a back up.
abdiel, looks like there is not much you can do. If you removed the HDD and placed this in another PS3, the new console would reformat the HDD and remove all the data. This is because each PS3 formats the HDD to itself. Also, the option to remove the HDD and connect to a PC may not work as the HDD will have a proprietary format which is not recognized by a PC, LINUX or others. So the best way of getting to your data, would be to fix your old PS3 and then to back it up. Just my 2cents, hope this helps. Good Luck.
