Hi all, i have researched this on other threads and got loads of various answers. Thereason iv started a new thread is to try and get some closure up to date. I repair a lot of iphones, have done for years, been through the IOS problems, dodgy digitiser problems, the lot, as im sure you all have. Today i took on another iphone 7 plus (iv repaired over 50 so far) and replaced screen from my regular supplier, no issues as always, repair went well and completed within 20 mins. At first it was stuck on apple logo for a while, then rebooted with that heart rendering message “touch ID will not work” I relaced home button with new (i know you lose fingerprint scanner) but still wouldnt work. Just for the !&&* of it i replaced screen again. Still the same. I replaced old parts, home button and screen, phone works fine. I have exactly the same issue on my wifes iphone 8 too. Im hearing all sorts of things but it seems to all be aiming at the latest IOS update? Iv also heard of this Horizon machine that recodes homebutton and digitiser ? What is the actual issue, does anyone out there know as iam now reluctant to take on any more repairs above a 6S? Is this the end for us third party repairers? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

You can’t replace the Home Button on the iPhone 7 & up. Sure, you can fill the hole with something that a vendor will sell you but it will do absolutely nothing, it is for cosmetic purposes only. Only Apple can replace the Home Button. *As a side note, if ever you replace a screen and the Home Button works for Touch ID but has no “click” functions, that CAN be repaired via micro-soldering.
