My friend gave me her iPhone 7 to sort out the Charging dock, and to do that you need to remove motherboard, I’ve done all that as I’ve done on many other iPhones, but this time something went wrong and don’t know what exactly as after putting everything together switching the phone on, I’m receiving information Unable to activate Touch ID, and home button is not reacting for touching it, it’s like HB died!?, I’ve put another spare iPhone 7 HB (working one) from different phone and had the same information about TouchID but still when I pressed HB there was no reaction from it. I know fitting new HB will disable TouchID but will not disable his functions! Any idea if that can be fixed?, or what could go wrong? Every screw was put in the same place from where it was taken out, all the connections are solid. Any suggestion will be great Thanks

So after further investigation, turns out the Home Button is 100% fine and functional. Look like the problem is the connector on motherboard, as when I fitted another Genuine Apple Screen HB still didn’t work, and that screen was 100% functional as well as it was removed from fully working iPhone for test purposes, BUT after fitting aftermarket Screen HB/Touch ID worked and still working perfectly.

I think you would find that the home button flex cable on the screen has been damaged when you removed or installed the screen. A tiny tear is all it takes. Sometimes I have to put them under a microscope to see the tear. You will need to replace the screen. Another home button from another IPhone 7 will not work. You would need to purchase a HX or JC universal home button if you go down this path.

As it goes I’ve got a old spare screen and put everything as it’s should be, turn the phone on and no luck it’s still the same (I’ve put the proper HB, not the spare one) and still got info Unable to activate TouchID and no haptic feedback. What I’ve done as well is put YF Home Button that I’ve bought few days ago (https://www.replacebase.co.uk/for-apple-…) and still the same result no haptic feedback. But when you mentioned about JC HB, think I should buy this one and try it (https://www.replacebase.co.uk/for-apple-…) now the question as well what’s the difference between them YF and JC Home Buttons? Personally think there is something wrong with the home button connector on the logic board. But when I had a look there is no damage to it, and was very carefully to remove logic board from the frame. Is something that can be fixed, just fit a new connector?
