Hi, I replaced the screen on an iphone 5 and everything worked except the bad charging port. So then I replaced the lightning port connector on the iphone 5. It did charge and the jack worked aswell.. The only problem is the home-button not working! When I removed the old charging port assembly I managed to tear apart the earth cable laying on the jack, however this should not make any problem(not the motherboard earth cable). I have opened a lot of iPhones and its first time this ever happend. Please help me! Thanks
It could be that the new lightning connector is defective. Short the 2 golden prongs: If the home button function is working, your home button flat cable are at fault or the prongs are flattened/need raising. If the home button function is not working, disconnect the lightning dock, overlay the old one, and short it. If it works this time over, get a new lightning dock with ALL functions working. If it still doesn’t work, your issue is somewhere else, probably some pry damage next to the SIM tray. Examine that area carefully, and be extra careful not to damage the glass IC that’s there as well. It’s fragile and easily cracked.
I’m having the same problem, so you just bought another lightning Port and your home button started working again?
