Started as home button not clicking unless you pressed hard enough to distort the LCD but the fingerprint worked fine. I harvested three other buttons with success of the home button clicking. Now the touch ID doesn’t work on any of the harvested buttons. It’s like 1 step forward 1 step back. What are you thoughts? I am curious to hear what other techs have to say about this similar but different issue. I put the original button in which doesnt click and turned assistive touch on, even with assistive touch on the home button still doesnt work using that function. This is a strange bird :O

Does the button click when not in the screen? If so, try loosening the screws where the home button plate goes in as it gives space sometimes, this is usually with third party screens.

The iPhone 5S home button is linked to the original motherboard it came with. If you replace the home button, you will no longer have Touch ID functionality. There is no getting around that, unless you pay Apple to replace it.

I have seen some posts saying its part of the board and also part of the charge pot area. The button clicks but it’s not being recognized. I’ve talked to other tech that have successfully harvested and replaced buttons. Keep the info coming hopefully we can nail it down.
