Was attempting my first screen replacement on a iphone 6s, using the ifixit guide and video (and ifixit parts). This screen was extremely shattered but still functional. During screen removal, it basically came off in multiple jagged pieces and I damaged the flex for the home button from not being familiar with the parts. Researched the issue and got all the bad news. Well, the owner doesn’t use fingerprint and I read that Apple fixed the update issue so I shouldn’t get a bricked phone on the next update. I ordered a new home button. installed it. But it doesn’t work. Completely unresponsive. The new LCD from ifixit works 100%. I pulled screen out about 4 times and kept double checking the connection, the cable, the button. Everything looks fine, but no response when trying to use home button. I am trying to get the button replaced in case it was bad. In the meantime I turned on the virtual button. Anyone have tips on replacing the home button (aside from the known fingerprint issue)?
If the new home button doesn’t work as well then the long home button extension cable is probably faulty. Oh.. It looks like they have basically made the home button extension cable and the LCD backlight one piece, this wasn’t the case for the iPhone 6 but unfortunately it is for iPhone 6S. I think you should contact iFixit about the screen because that home button extension cable part comes with the LCD which I think is faulty.
