Chosen Solution
My iPhone 7 had fallen off my hand and landed flat on its screen. Nothing seemed physically damaged but later I realized the home button wasn’t working. I used the assistive touch and it worked fine. But now after updating to iOS 14.1, the phone is stuck at “Press Home to upgrade” Can anyone help?
There are only 2 solutions for this problem. 1. Restore your phone. 2. Purchase an iPhone X home button + audio jack it works on all models and will give you your home button function.
If you did replace the home button it should fix this issue however the assistive touch should also still work. I’d try doing a hard reset if possible and if you’re still having issues maybe try a home button replacement, especially if you can do it yourself because in that case it’s a pretty cheap repair.
Replacing the Home button will cause Touch ID to not work. Definitely try the hard reset by holding volume down and power button until the apple logo shows up. If that does not fix it, try connecting it to a Computer with itunes and see what it says.
You’ll still need to home button if you hardreset I beleive. On the iPhone 7 and 8, you even if you replace the button, it will not work at all since it is all digital and the button is link to your motherboard. There is one called the JC home button that would work. It’s an aftermarket button that has a worked around that. Althought it will allow you to get through, its functionality is intermitent for most of them I hope this helps
