I had dropped and cracked the screen on my iPhone 6S, and being a repair tech, I thought no problem. Unfortunately the home button doesn’t work after the replacement. The button will click, but only registers every now and then. Touch id still works, and a replacement home button works (minus touch id). I tried bending the back plate to make better contact, another screen to make sure the connecting flex is fine, and checking the home button’s flex under a microscope to find any tears (none visible). I’m thinking I’m screwed and must’ve applied too much pressure or tore something I can’t see, but I wanted to see if anyone had any last ditch efforts before I just upgrade my phone. Thanks in advance!

There is a mechanism inside the home button assembly which has a silver plate, if it crack it can cause this problem. There are ways to fix it but the amount of work it requires is very hard and time consuming. I would recommend going ahead with the upgrade.
