This question goes out to all the repair shops. I went to place an order for iPhone 6 digitizers for the first time and my supplier offered me a high quality copy digitizer for $51 or an original digitizer for $63.50. I’m not sure which one to get. We obviously all want to make the most profit from each repair but I also don’t want problems with the digitizers down the road or have my customers complain about the quality of the glass. I’m trying to stay competitive but I can’t be doing these repairs for such a small profit. I would like to get the $51 ones but it worries me. Which one is everyone stocking up with? Thanks
Hi, If I am honest, none of us really have the right to be repairing the screens on iPhone 6, Apple do it at a really reasonable price, and that’s for completely original screens, plus you get to keep the warranty getting it done with them. There have been a lot of issues with iPhone 6 screens, as a lot have been falling out due to the fact the frame is extremely thin, and a lot use poor quality HMG (Hot Melt Glue) to stick the glass to the frames. Also, there are a lot of screens which are thicker and you can not only see the difference, but feel the difference as it doesn’t sit flushly with the housing, and there is some major problems with the frame lifting up by the mute switch, which then shows the LCD light from the inside. If anything though, always try to go original. :-)
I buy cheaper screens and notice they use just refurbished LCDs from original screens and new glass and touch. Ive never had one come back for a faulty digitizer. I have had some come back with the screen starting to pull from the frame. I just make sure when they come in from suppliers from now on if the screen is separated easily by just me pushing on it I apply my own epoxy to the frame. Eliminates this issue in the future.
I would go original, as I work hard to build my reputation of having the highest quality repairs. There are other places doing it cheaper, but I’m trying to be the best, not the cheapest. Is the Apple Store close to you? If so, you may have to compete with them, but with our nearest Apple Store about 45 minutes away, nobody seams interested in going to them, when I can get it done it 15 minutes.
Thanks for everyone’s advise. I went with the original screens.
