The physical mute switch will not click over to it’s opposite position. Need to replace the switch itself. Not the cable. Is this possible?
The switch wont move probably because of the cable. The cable has a sliding switch on the end of it. Those can get worn out. In every case where someone’s mute switch wasn’t clicking or stuck, I changed the flex cable (which is a little bit of a pain) and it fixed the issue.
Hi! Unfortunately the mute switch is soldered to that cable, so you will have to replace them both. You can see this here by scrolling all the way down to step 35. Shouldn’t be too much of a hassle nor too expensive to replace that entire part tho.
