Hi there, a friend asked me to take a look at his laptop as it was out of warranty. it got some liquid damage. when i popped open the unit it had some corrosion and residue which all cleaned up nicely using alcohol and a hog hair brush. i found a damaged component. from tracing the components it looks like it is in the power section. it’s a 13.3 MacBook unibody logic board. First picture is the top right section as the bottom of the notebook is open, bat and hd bay towards user. http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y80/Rom… this is the regulator/fet/? Ic in question. Top numbers are 1127 (8G4 55A2, lot and date numbers?) http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y80/Rom… any help on this one would be great! i can’t seem to find any schematics anywhere, which i find odd for older electronics….. Thanks, -Chris
Hi Chris, There are only few people working on Mac logic boards at component level and I don’t know anyone here on this forum. It’s not easy to identify a specific IC on a logic board without a shematic but my advice would be to scan the board high resolution (or the area where the faulty IC is located) and contact the Digi-Key technical support department for IC identification and purchase. Send them the scan and they’ll look at it. These guys know what they’re talking about and have a great electronic expertise. It cost you nothing to try. I contacted them for a iBook G4 microfuse (inverter logic board circuitry) and they found out the good part replacement. Here’s the Digi-Key link: http://dkc1.digikey.com/us/en/mkt/Contac…
Not sure about the first, but the second picture is the Magsafe DC in jack (the power in module), part number 820-2361-02, and there is one for sale on eBay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-MacBook-Pro-… ;o)
Hi, I know this is an old threat but I am looking for the same IC… a least I could identify it… its an Renesas Mosfet http://documentation.renesas.com/eng/pro… but now I’m looking for a reseller who will send a few to germany. I didn’t find it on Digikey Miguel
%#$* son, thanks. you have diligently kept on where i was at the point of giving up. HAT1127H - saw some on international ic vendors from mainly China. i’ll try to source locally and give some results if i’m successful
Ive Changed my fair share of those exact IC’s Mouser carries them. be careful, the chip does NOT like to come up cleanly at all! Mark Grummell, Board level, Indianapolis, IN
Hi Im repairing my a1278 logicboard due to water damaged. Ive found out that the airport card and bluetooth card module were not working. Ive replaced both and only the bluetooth works. The laptop works ok except keyboard backlight, ethernet port and airport. If I can locate what’s the name of this IC, on picture below, I can go futher. I do have a schematic manual of the a1278 but I’m trying to get used to it. See picture: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7483/a1… I have all the tools to repair liquid spills but this IC I need to replace. Ive tried a digital camera but the number is not clear.
