My white un-web cam iMac takes four attempts to start up, making a ‘pop’ noise when failing, but then works well although can ‘pop off’ when woken from a long sleep. Is it a bad power unit? Please help!
Yes, My first guess would be the power supply. Lay it down flat on its screen.. remove the back.. usually if a power supply is “popping” it will have a distinct smell.. also looks for any buldging or swollen capacitors.
Could be, but could also be a bad hard drive, use disk utility to verify your hard disk if that’s failing, a failing drive can make popping noises.
