i was trying to make slime . and i tryed to take a picture of it and i accidently dropped it, and i wont be able to get a new one because we dont have a lot of money so i have to try to fix it. i reall need help becuase my mom issnt able to buy me a new oe. i was cracked a little bit a the top. i put my phone in a bag of rice nd now its just there. please please help me Update (09/04/2018) hi im only 13 and i really dont know what to do and im scared i my mom inds out, is that the only way
Tell your mom right away—that is step one. Always best to be up front. It is an unfortunate fact of life that ALL moms hate it when kids make slime, but it was an accident.
The best thing for you to do is to stop in at your local cell phone repair shop tomorrow and ask them to borrow the pentalobe screwdriver and the size #000 phillips head so that you can follow an iFixit guide and open the phone and disconnect the battery. Then dry it out with a paper towel and let it sit opened up for a day. Then see what happens. It will either start up or not, and that fate is already sealed based on whether or not the phone got a short circuit when the slime water hit it or not.
The problem with rice is 95% of the damage is under EMI shields, where the rice cannot reach. Liquid damage puts minerals and dirt under the chips on the board, and causes a short, so the moisture in the phone is only half of the problem. I would suggest to take out the logic board, and soak it in 90% or higher isopropyl alchohol. Rub it with a gentle brush, or a toothbrush, then take it out and let it evaporate. Unfortunately, as most damage is under the EMI shields, if this doesn’t help, you will have to take it to a microsoldering repair shop.
