Is posible to remove the dvd optica drive to put a heat extractor or any other cooling system. I want to reduce the macbook temperature, I’m most of the time in a Library watching educational videos on youtube. And also running parallels . And it makes the cpu to 77º , fans 6200 rpm so it turns too noisy . For me would be perfect to replace the optical drive with a Fan ,extractor any or cooling system , capable to get the heat out through the slot where normally we insert the dvd. In a silent way of course. It is posible or I’m just dreaming ? Macbook 2007 2.2ghz (santa rosa) A1181 4gb ram 500gb hd

It could be done, but this is not actually a “repair” question. Removing the Optical drive and the felt from the slot is no problem, neither is finding a fan or two to epoxy in place. The trick will be in powering them on. I would opt for low speed fans that are either on all the time or triggered through a switch/button run out the disk slot. I say switched because unless you have a way to power them off they’ll drain your battery pretty quickly. I should think a software switch would be pretty complicated. Remember to return and mark accepted the answer that best solves your problem. Good luck, N

If you’re having heat problems, I would replace the thermal paste and clean the vents and fans out when doing it. It’s just not necessary to install such a heat sink.
