So I bought this iphone from a friend who said it was waterdamge So I fixed it by cleaning etc it has been working fine for a couple of weeks but now when I plug in my headphones in my iPhone and listen to music it pauses on it’s own and once I push play it plays on the speaker instead of the headphones so do I need to replace the headphone jack if so do i order it on ebay or do i buy it here on ifixit or is the phone not working right please help.
You are better off replacing the whole jack on this phone since fixing it is a cheap fix. It doesn’t make sense to fix the part beyond replacing the whole cable. Here’s how to do it. Here’s the part.
If you’re having issues with the power button too then it may have something to do with the flex in which both the headset and power button are on. I would first check the connection of the flex which is directly under the headphone jack on the inside of the phone. If there is any corrosion on or around the connector, clean it with isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. I also agree with attempting to clean with a q-tip and alcohol inside the headset port.
