I have 2 ps3s in repair. After fixing one, on the second reflow, I finally backed up the data. Then I attempted to swap one hard drive into the other ps3, but could not. The message said the wrong HDD was in the ps3 and needed to be formatted. Why can I not swap 2 different HDDs? same size, both 40 gb..
With the PS3 you can’t just go and swap out the drive. The drives are mated to the console/main board. So each console needs to format the drive to mate with it. Otherwise it is not being recognized.
