Hello, Since the last 2 days my MBP has been really sluggish with spinning beachballs for every activity. The HD is on the verge of a catastrophic failure. I’d like to replace the HD with a new SATA 500gb HD , however, I’m not sure about the size of the HD. Should I go for the 2.5 inch 7mm or the 9mm? Also, it’d be great if any particular brand is recommended. Thanks a mill!
My first bet on this would be a defective or damaged hard drive/IR cable. Does it run OK from an external drive?
Hello, Either one is fine. Why do you want to replace it with a 500gb, the price difference for a 1TB is not too big and you will have plenty of space. We use Western Digital and Seagate in our store. If you want the brand with the lowest failure rate search for HGST ( is a western digital company ).
