Hi! My hdd is nog turning on (getting power) and can’t be found by my macbook mid 2012. I tested the HDD and the flexcable on another macbook and it is working properly. When i boot i get the blinking folder error. When i connect the hdd using a usb enclosure , the hard disk is working fine. My assumption is the hdd socket on the logic board is broke . Is there any way i can order this part, or get this fixed in a other way? If you think it is a other problem, im all ears! picture is included below I bought the laptop thinking it was just the flex cable as it is a known fault. guess i was wrong… thanks for your help! From that picture it does not seem to be broken. Assuming it is indeed the issue, you have a couple of possibilities here: 1/ The new HDD cable is defective. You need to test with a known good one, not necessarily a new one. 2/ Your HDD itself may be damaged. You can tell by trying to boot from a USB to SATA connector (basically from an enclosure after you pop your drive in it) and by trying also from a different bootable drive inside and outside (enclosure) your laptop. But, why did you assume your HDD is not powering up? What are you getting when you try to turn you laptop on? Why/how did this first happen, etc. Some history will help us better understand your problem and help you solve it. EDIT: As per your edit, it is likely a board level issue. To make sure, try an SMC reset, and if it does not help, you need to start board level diagnosis using schematics and microsoldering tools. Was the laptop previously liquid damaged? Are there repair attempts? History is still not complete.
