Chosen Solution
I dropped my phone onto a tiled floor. Screen (repaired outside warranty) is intact. But the left side of the phone is black from top to bottom. The iPhone is still usable, but I suspect the LCD may be broken, as I can still press the back buttons (just can’t see them).
It’s most likely a damaged screen. The only way to know for certain is to replace it with a good quality replacement screen.
