I did a drive image/clone from old hard drive to a new larger hard drive on the media center hackintosh.( OSX 10.5.6) The OSX Disk Utility will not allow a resize of the partition or even allow a new partition to be created (just gives errors). any advice would be appreciated……. I do not have an optical drive but I could boot from USB….. I could use something like gparted installed on my USB flash drive, just not sure if the outcome would be a disaster or not. Right DU is not a resizing tool (unless you remap the entire drive). Mac OS does not like the MBR (Master Boot Record) partition map scheme that Windows-formatted disks use. It wants disks to use either GUID Partition Table or Apple Partition Map. There are 3rd party utilities which claim to that on open MBDs, but none of them are very reliable. IMHO The best thing to do would is backup all your data, then repartition the drive the way you want and reinstall OS X. Remember to return and mark accepted the answer that best solves your problem.
