OK I’ve been lurking on eBay listings found a few ssd drives that say only compatible with iPod 5.5th gen classic and 7th gen classic. I found a few broken iPod classic 6th gen and 5th gen (80gb) on local Craigslist for 20 bucks and 30 bucks that won’t turn on. I have never repaired anything yet. Can you give me guidelines on what I need to gather. This is starting to interest me more like a pet project. I feel like I’m gonna be like Tony stark building a new reactor lol please let me know
deep trance, go with the 5th gen (iPod Video) since the case is a lot easier to work on. As for what you need, that will depend on what you purchase. If you are going to replace the hard drive with an SSD, see if you can buy an iPod with a bad hard drive. The rest of the parts are relatively inexpensive and the iPod is a fairly straight forward device to work on.
