Chosen Solution

Hi. I am hoping for some help. I have a Mac Pro from early 2008. Please note I am not v. tech savvy and ask for patience with my ignorance. I’ve been getting a funny screen where it turns different colours and gest weird grey /fuzzy lines across then sometimes can’t turn off even though can move mouse, or a straight grey screen. It’s been suggested it’s the graphics card. Does anyone know if there is a graphics card I could get to replace it to see if that would work? The main reason I don’t want to get rid of the computer completely (other than the cost of a new one) is I have a Nikon CoolScan 9000 for scanning my 32 & 120mm photos and it has a firewire, which is no longer used I’ve discovered on newer computers. Any help/suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you in advance. Best, Tricia The computer details are: Part Number:Z0EM One 16x SuperDrive 500 GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s 4GB (4x1GB) Apple Keyboard (English) + Mac OS X Acessory kit Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core) Apple Mighty Mouse ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB (Two dual-link DVI

The video card is the first thing to go out on this machine. I’ve had very good luck with the nVidia GeForce GT 512 MB card that came stock in the 2009 MacPro. I have one in both my 2008 & 2009 machines. You should be able to get one on eBay for around $70.
