1 year ago, I took my macbook pro to apple store and want to change my keyboard because it is sticky. After examination genius told me my macbook pro has water damage. I was shocked because i wasnt sure if my device was water damaged. After that i changed my keys and it worked like charm. But today my space key and ‘7’ key is now sticky. I examined my macbook and saw my water damage indicators are white! Then i removed all my keys and inspected every one of them but there is not sign of water damage. Why the genius told me my device was water damaged and what are the ways of showing water damaged macbook pro? Thanks :) PS : I am a Turkish citizen and there are currency changes.
Apple’s standards for water damage are low - I don’t see any immediate obvious water damage. You can’t hide a water sensor under the battery due to the 3M tape and I don’t see any other than the 2 near the battery and those are white. Take it in this time and if they pull that card, demand to speak to a manager and call them out on their BS. Don’t take it. DO NOT ADMIT TO OPENING IT AS IT WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU. Demand proof, they will probably back off and honor the warranty.
