Hey! So my SG6 is acting weird. It can power on, but after some time it freezes for no reason. Sometimes restarts, sometimes just shuts down and sometimes (most of the time) the picture just freezes and i have to hard restart the phone. I have done several factory resets and tried wiping cache. The problem was worse a couple of months ago. Then it wouldnt even go past the boot screen. But randomly it fixed itself and worked for a couple of months. Now i am facing this issue again, but this time it always boots up. It does so even when charger is connected. I have opened the device several times now, tried to reconnect the battery cable, but with no luck. The device gets hot, when it freezs and the heat seem to come from upper side of the motherboard (And i looked up, that its the place, where companion PMIC is located) So my question is, Can the PMIC (power management IC) can cause this issue? Will it be hard to replace it?
So i think the problem was with one of the PMIC chips. I think the device got wet, so the owner decided to scam me, because the water label was red. So i think the chip had corrosion. For me, the problem was solved for a few months when i used a heat gun and “reflowed” the chip.( didnt replace the chip, just applied heat) But after 5-6 months the device compleatly died. I didnt use flux for reflowing so i think that air got between the chip. If you know how to reflow yourself then your lucky, if not, then i recomend to find a professional reflower. Hope it helps ;)
hey did you solve it? my s6 has the same problem, bought used so no warranty…
