Hi, Recently I was repairing an iPad and I had ordered a cheaper digitizer because the oem’s were sold out. Now I noticed that on the original digitizers there is a copperish square around the screen, but on the cheap digitizer, there is not. Could somebody explain the function of the copper strip around the screen?
The copper color looking borders on the digitizer are there to stop interference with the chassis which can result in decreased touch sensitivity if not present. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the silver and copper style digitizers they worked pretty much the same. The copper ones I believe are either OEM or close to OEM quality and the glass is generally thicker and less brittle.
