I’m trying to replace the front panel of my iPhone 3g but the glass is shattered all around the home button so the suction cup cant get a grip at all. Is there another way to get the phone open? Would maybe some glue help hold it together long enough to open it up?
one tiny suggestion as a future reference - i opened a few 3g and never used a suction cap to do that. the easiest way was in my case was the small blade of a swiss army knife from victorinox - the tiny ones (classic series 58mm) are perfect to do that - the small 84mm is also ok, but the classic works best. the perfect spot is “under the home button” - use it as a lever and the front panel lifts smoothly up
try sticky back plastic/contact (the stuff for covering books)
