Hi, my about 7 years old Kenmore Elite 41022900 makes a thumping/knocking noise during spin cycle even on empty drum, just like in video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFs8tEzA…. But it does it only briefly and I think twice. Seems like at the beginning and then close to the end. The second one seems to be much shorter. Please let me know if you have any specific suggestions on what the problem could be. Thank you, juro

Cause 1 Tub Bearing The tub bearing is mounted in the middle of the outer tub. The tub bearing helps to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. Replacing the tub bearing is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. If the tub bearing is defective, we recommend replacing both the outer tub and bearing as an assembly if the manufacturer offers the components together.

Does it happen when the spin cycle gets faster? If so, there could be a defect in the drum, or there could be an unbalanced load. Look up how to put your washer in test mode, and then run a spin test with no load. Make it run at maximum speed with no clothes in it first, and if it still vibrates then it’s not an unbalanced load. If it does, it could be a problem with the washer. This can also be caused by a washer that is not level or on an uneven surface. Try leveling it by using an adjustable crescent wrench to turn the leveling feet up and down to make it sit level on the surface. Hope this helps.
