HI I have a Neff fridge freezer with ice maker K3962x0. When switch on from being stood it works for 20 or 30 mins then trips rcd if I switch the fridge temp down to 0 it stays on. Turn fridge temp up trips straight away Left on with freezer only for a while then turn fridge back on runs for 20 or 30 min then trips. Any ideas?
When a fridge/freezer is kept on continuously for a long time ice collects on the plumbing around the compressor, and simply gets thicker and thicker, too thick to melt on a normal defrost. If you then switch it off for a number of hours it starts to melt and the water can get into the electrics. This may be what has happened to yours. You need to completely defrost it and ensure that everything in the control gear is bone dry before switching it on again. To do this you will probably have to remove the covers on the electrical controls to make sure there is no water inside, and you may have to replace the motor start mechanism.
