Chosen Solution
Hi everyone,
First time posting on here and hoping you can guide me. I recently came across an older Macbook Pro that I wanted to upgrade the SSD/RAM and tighten the screen for my little sister. I made the mistake of going off memory and managed to cause the exposed part of this wire to split. I wanted to know if anyone knew what this connector does specifically? I am under the impression I could solder the wire together and back to the metal bracket that goes on the hinge screw, but wanted a second opinion before I go that route. Thank you for your time and any insight is very much appreciated.
Side note the wire seems to begin near the disc drive opening and appears to be soldered to the body of the Macbook directly, is this a ground of some type?
Well, you’ve got your work cutout here ;-{ The WiFi antenna wires can’t be reconnected in the state they are in. You’ll need to replace the antenna assembly and the hinge unit (all one part) 13” MacBook Pro Unibody Antenna (11/12) Its a bit of work as you’ll need to pull the display assembly off following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Display Replacement once off you can slide the clutch cover off to expose the antenna unit. The wire which you see going under the optical drive is the Bluetooth antenna which appears to be damaged as well. Here we’ll need to pull the optical drive out following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Optical Drive Replacement then carefully lift off the antenna.
