I wanted to repair my screen because it was ruined and was only glowing slightly brighter than black. After removing the screen, I plugged it back in and saw that there was still the same problem(just checked if something was up with the connections). After dissembling the screen, I also tried to remove the battery, scratched and bended it a little while trying to pry it out(the little sticky things just broke) and after a little time realised that I COMPLETELY forgot to remove the battery while doing all this process. Is there any chance of the motherboard frying? How big are my chances of everything still being fine? I ordered a new screen and battery to replace both of them and will try to repair it today but is it worth to even buy them?
Hard to tell what has happened and what chances are the iPhone is still in working conditions, it depends on how your hands were precise in aligning the screen connector and luck, it takes little to shorten out circuits with so many pins on a connector. However, do not despair before trying a new screen and battery, the most likely damage would have come from the high voltage backlight circuit, if you still saw light coming from the screen last time it was plugged in, some chances the board is alive are there.
