Hello ifixit i need your help. I am travelling in souteast asia with my macbook pro (MacBook Pro “Core i5” 2.6 13" Mid-2014). First i started having issues where after heavy use or while using it for a while the wifi would get jumpy before crashing all together and the macbook would become unresponsive, needing to restart it to get it to work again. After this happening for a while i made a clean reinstall of OS el capitan. I thought this solved the problem but after a while the WIFI started crashing again. After driving all day i noticed when i took my macbook out of the car, it was so hot from sitting in the hot car all day plus i felt like it might have turned on while in its sleeve. After trying to turn it on the keyboard and trackpad doesnt respond, when i plug in an external mouse the pointer is jumpy and doesnt respond as normal. After cooling it in a cool room for a day, i turn it on and works for five minutes before the wifi, keyboard and trackpad giving up on me. I hope you guys can help me? Is it a software issue? Is there parts i can change? The click on the trackpad also stopped working several months ago. Thanks :)
Symptoms you describe make me think there’s some overheating. Might simply be that the air intake and cooling are limited by dust/dirt. Try opening the Mac botton and have a look at the conditions of the inside.
This sounds like a sensor issue on the main logic board. If I am correct, Apple recommends replacing the board. Basically what happens is a sensor reads a bad value (too hot, low voltage, high voltage, etc..) and lowers the PC to it lowest possible settings to protect the hardware. The result is a machine that cannot be used in the crippled state. This happens a lot with the power adapter. Since you are traveling you likely cannot find an apple service center. You may end up being force to buy a new machine. Your other option would be to find someone who may service Apple devices but that is rare - Apple does not provide service info to third parties.
