I tore the home button flex cable just a bit and now the Touch ID doesn’t work. It’s still the original home button and assembly. If I replace just that home button cable that is taped to the screen shield will that solve the problem allowing the Touch ID to work again?
If you replace the cable it should work. It only doesn’t work if you don’t have the original home button. more info
Try to disguise the damage and send it back to Apple. Only Apple can repair the Touch ID button on this planet. Do not replace the button, for iPhone 6, mismatched home button will cause the phone to be entirely inoperable. If you are sure that just the extension cable is broken, replace it and it will work again.
I tried replacing the ribbon to cure a faulty home button but it didn’t work for me, don’t know if it was a faulty replacement cable or not. I’ll be watching with interest.
You can only replace the fingerprint scanner if your jailbroken and have iFile. Must have access to the whole entire root filesystem. From there you can access the Plist file you need to modify. It is link with the serial number but a simple and it can fix this. I know because I’ve done this on my iPhone 6 Plus. I change the color of my screen and home button to black. Was originally white. Once you modify the file simple respring and you’re good to go
No you cannot it will throw in AirTunes code 55 or 35 I believe because you need the original home button to restore
I have Same Problem I Replace New LCD & Digitizer Everything Working Fine Just Touch ID Not Working If Any one Have Problem Solution please Let me Know Thanks
Buy the plate that goes on the back of the lcd (can’t remember what it;s called) if that’s even what you’re talking about.
nice orginal home button is broken and error 53 and iphone is trash stuff now byebye 900 euros phone and never again apple products (i swap lcd and broke the home button) so far there is now fix for this ? ::DD this is not good joke
Anyone got those plist settings yet? Also, I take it that if you have tried to restore and got error 53 already, there is no way to get out of recovery and go on to jailbreak?
Yeah i dont thinks so that is possible anyways byebye apple i go to grab huawei p8 today
When i go to my touch id & passcode and when i go to add fingerprint it says unable to complete touch id setup.go back and try again
You should be good to go now. Apple patch the problem with the finger print scanners I just ran into one today and restored it no problem
so its confirmed if you just broke the long flex cable, replacing that, but using the original home button, you are fine for touchid functionality?
Yes, as long as you use the original home button you can replace the long flex or extension flex cable if it is damage and your finger print sensor will keep working.
If you replace the Metal Backplate, it will fix the issue you are having as long as you are using the same home button. The cable that runs through the plate and connects to your home botton should be included with the assembly. The metal backplate assembly only cost me $8.95. I had made the mistake of cutting that cable as well getting it off the bottom part of the phone so I understand your frustration of a perfect screen replacement. Home button and Touch ID still work on my phone.
