Bought a smashed iPhone 7 got a screen replacement changed camera original home button and heat sheild. However when I turned the phone on the home button didn’t work but the finger print scanner does?
You probably damaged the U10 IC on the Home Button flex. This is what make the “button click” work or not. This is repairable but requires a micro-soldering repair on a flex cable and as such, I would not recommend it as a DIY repair.
