Hello All, I replaced the whole screen including shield plate and home button cable. Having taken notice of: “If you do not transfer your phone’s original home button to the new display, you will lose Touch ID functionality.” I installed the original home button. Never the less the home button functions but there is no fingerprint ID functioallity. Can anyone help me with this problem please? Best Regards, Guy. Update (11/18/2017) Thinks?? This is the pate/flex replacement unit that I purchased: http://amzn.eu/76rFGLZ The plug at the top end has to be doubled back on itself (see 1st image) to face the socket.
I was supprised at this. I folded and glued it. Maybe the fold did some damage. Should I have just manovered into facing the correct way? Update (11/19/2017) Here are a couple of images of the connector:
I am assuming that there is a fault or damage so I’ve ordered another plate. The connector is facing in the correct direction:
So this, hopefully, will sort the problem.
Did you buy a new Shield plate or transfer your existing one? The majority of the time when this happens, it it due to the Flex cable on the back of the shield plate being damaged. The flex is extremely fragile and sometimes the tiny traces inside separate (break) leaving you without Touch but button works. Also, same with the actual home button. If you bought a new shield with flex, it could be defective. I would start by trying a new shield after inspecting the FPC Connectors and cleaning them with 95% alcohol or higher and inspect flex cables for damage, kinks, etc…
