I, too, did this on a late 2011 MBP and soldered the connector back in place. Ever since, the fan is running at full speed. Resets of the PRAM and SMC don’t get it under control and tools like smcfancontrol register the fan at 0 rpm. Any ideas what might be going on? Bad solder job? Something else damaged? Any help would be very appreciated.
@zed11 a lot of times this is caused by failed/missing components right by the connector. Post some images of your repair with your question so we can see what you see. Use this guide for that. You also want to let us know the 820-XXXX number for your logic board. It’ll help to identify the components.
