I recently replaced the screen assembly on my iphone 5s with a screen assembly from ifixit and now see two very faint white bars running parallel, symmetrically, and vertically on the edges of the replacement screen assembly. (The ifixit replacement screen assembly looks and feels like a “cheap knock-off” both in the display characteristic–color balance, contrast, and consistency–and build quality when compared with the factory original. That is another matter, however.) Has anyone had any luck fixing a similar issue to the one described above? I disassembled the phone, cleaned with alcohol, and re-attached the 4 connectors that originate from the screen assembly and attach to the case. This greatly reduced, but did not entirely resolve the issue. Can anyone describe why the white bar issue arises, and a recommend reliable fix for it? Thanks in advance!
Ben is correct, this is most definitely a problem in the connection from the screen assembly to the phone. Make sure both sides of the cables are clean and free of debris and make sure that they are fully seated in their connectors. As a test, you can actually hold the connectors down and turn the screen on, if it still is like this while testing, then you will need to seek out a replacement screen as the cable may be faulty.
