Yes, it does sound like your display is having troubles. You’ll need to give us the displays model so we can figure out what the backlight’s light source is. It could be CCFL’s or LED. Finding CCFL’s tubes are hard to find now, hopefully its just the inverter. If LED then the LED driver logic would need checking out. Update (08/04/2018) Sadly I can’t find a service manual or schematics for your display. We also don’t have any guides either. Given the cost of a new display is so low it just makes sense to get a new unit. As finding the needed parts will be a hassle. Also keep in mind this Mac Mini is quite old as well and Apple has long since stopped issuing security updates. David LaFlair it may be a hassle but keeping devices working and out of the landfill should be a major concern for all of us. Disassemble your monitor and take a look at the power board. This could be a simple backlight fuse or capacitor issue. If nothing else, I am certain we can get you to fit an external backlight driver so you can continue to use this monitor.
