I have an HD pulled from a broken up MacBookAir. It uses a special ribbon cable to connect to the LB (?). What can i use to access the data on this drive now that it is out of the laptop. Thanks. Update Found the solution here: http://www.digitalintelligence.com/produ… If the link doesn’t work directly, it’s hard to find on the website.

1.8" SATA-LIF enclosure: http://www.memoryc.com/products/descript

Just for the record: The drive is an ATA (IDE) drive and uses a (semi)standard ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket. The usual adapters won’t do the job.

Buy an enclosure and put the drive in there. Then you can connect it to any computer with USB, firewire, or whatever type enclosure you purchase.

do you want to permanently use the hard drive as an external drive? if so, then yes as rab777hp said just get a drive enclosure to convert it to an external drive however, if you only need to temporarily access it externally (e.g. you will later re-install it in some computer), there’s a more flexible alternative. get yourself a Newertech USB 2.0 Universal Drive Adapter, or similar product from another manufacturer. This will let you attach any ATA or SATA drive, 2.5" or 3.5", hard drive or optical drive - via USB to your computer. it’s a very handy adapter to have around when you’re swapping or cloning drives. But as I say, this is only for temporary use, it’s not meant to replace an external drive enclosure.

The MacBook Air that I have contains a Samsung HS12UHE Which has a SATA interface with a 24 pin LIF connector. I contacted the support for the Digital Intelligence ZIF Enclosure and not only will this NOT work but they do not have a device that will work with this drive. If anyone has found an adapter that works with this drive please update this question.

I need an adapter as well. This one here will not work: http://www.adaptare.de/blog/adapter-fur-… They tell me in the forum that the MacBook Air is the only computer that uses SATA-ZIF at the moment. Please let us know if someone finds an adapter for SATA-ZIF.

Does anyone know if the cubeternet enclosure works on zif-24? Samir
