The driver side door of my 98 chevy silverado is giving me the blues. The handle moves freely, but does not operate the “latching mechanism. There are no screws on the outside trim, so I assume this indicates taking the interior door panel off. I’m not a car guy (part of the reason I bought the old truck was to force me to try to become a little more knowledgeable). someone take me to school.
I would think that the rod from the handle to the actual lock has come of. Yes, you will have to remove the door panel ;-) there are some good instructions on here and a couple of Videos onyouTube that may help you with that. Not a bad repair, but can be tedious…good luck I figured, what the heck, since you want to learn, here is the Service Manual for a 96-98 chevy pickup. might as well get it to educate yourself about the little things in life….:-)
