After replacing my MacBook Air with a new iFixit battery, the usage life has gone from 2 to 3 hours to 4 to 6 hours. The battery replaced by Apple 3 1/2 years ago returned it to the 8 to 10 hours that it had when it was new. I have reset with SCM NVRAM to no avail. I have done a multitude of resets and adjustments over the years. Suggestions on how I can extend the battery life even more? Thank you.
There really isn’t any magic here. Your usage pattern dictates your run time. Someone who is emailing, writing or doing spreadsheets will use less energy than someone playing videos or gaming. Things you do want to look at is Activity Monitor to see what processes are running hard and consider not running that program or add-on’s. Making sure you save some space on your drive is also important! You should leave 1/4 of your drive space unused! This allows your system to have the needed elbow room for wear-leveling and caching. Try not to run the battery dry. When you do you loose a cycle. the batteries cycle count limit is 1,000, but sometimes a battery will fail sooner.
